This short animated video explains how to calculate your minimum ceiling height requirement.

Your household 110V current can be “stepped up” to 220V with the use of a step-up transformer. A step-up transformer safely “transforms” your 110V into 220V (single-phase) current. The step-up transformer plugs directly into your 110V household receptacle. The Vantage storage lift power cord plugs into the 220V output receptacle of the step-up transformer. There are many220V step-up transformers available on the internet for about $100.00. We recommend a 220V step-up transformer with a minimum rated 3000-Watt capacity.

We recommend that your Vantage Lift be anchored to a concrete floor with a minimum thickness of 3.5 inches and 3500 PSI. If you are unsure about the thickness or integrity of your concrete floor, please consult a professional automotive lift installer or commercial concrete supplier for recommendations.

Each Vantage Storage lift comes with two lengths of 5/8 inch (16mm) concrete wedge anchors. The shorter wedge anchors should be installed through the front/side base holes of the column. The longer wedge anchors are to be installed through both of the holes in the rear base column support brace and through the rear holes in the column base.

The Vantage Storage Lift is available in two column heights, 94.5” and 114”. The shorter column will fit under an 8’ ceiling and the taller column will fit under a 10’ ceiling.

If you have a ceiling height taller than 10’ (120”), then the taller column may be your best option. The fully-raised platform has an 84” clearance under the platform for this column height. However, if you are going to be storing some tall items on the platform, here are some things for you to consider:

1. Will the taller items on the platform contact the ceiling before the platform is raised to the desired height?

2. Is there a ceiling light fixture or ceiling fan that will prevent storage of taller items on the platform?

3. You may be able to position some of the taller items on the platform to avoid contact with a ceiling fixture.

Some customers with a 10’ ceiling chose the shorter column height because their stored items will not allow the taller column platform to be raised to its fullest height.

Platform decking is not included with your Vantage Storage Lift, but can be purchased locally. Most customers use plywood for their platform decks.Plywood weight support ratingscan be found on the internet. Make sure that you install plywood sheets that are thick enough to support the weight of the items. Plywood that is 3/4” (.75”) thick will support the rated (evenly distributed) weight capacity (1500 lbs.) of all platform configurations. The plywood deck can be painted or stained. Many customers choose to install carpet, tiles or rubber matting on top of their plywood decking. Wire mesh and expanded metal can also be used to cover the platform slats to create a level decking surface.

We recommend that a fully loaded (1500 lbs.) platform be raised all the way to the top and lowered all the way to the bottom no more than two (2) times on 110V in a fifteen-minute period. An empty platform (with plywood decking only) can be fully raised and lowered 6-8 consecutive times on 110V. The use of 220V (single phase) doubles the platform speed and increases the duty cycle. The Vantage servo-motors have a built-in thermal overload protection device. This automatic internal thermal overload protector stops the motor if the motor temperature exceeds the manufacturer’s limit. If the thermal overload protection device is activated, and the motor ceases to operate, then the motor will need to cool for the thermal overload protector to reset (automatically) and allow the motor to operate. Hint: This is a storage lift and the motor should never be operated long enough to overheat. To expedite the cooling process, we suggest using a fan and 2-3 frozen enclosed water bottles (placed on the motor housing) to cool the motor. Operating temperature should be reached in 7-10 minutes.

The Vantage Storage Lift is a single-column lift with a motorized cantilevered platform. The cantilevered platforms create a large of amount of raised storage space.

Distributing the platform weight (as evenly as possible) and with the heaviest weight being placed closer to the column will reduce stress factors on the platform and the column as the platform is being raised.

For many customers, the Vantage Lift will not be used on a daily basis, so preventative maintenance time schedules will vary.

The concrete anchors should be checked every 7-14 days to make sure that they are secure. The lift cable should be checked after every 20-30 lifting cycles to make sure that there is no fraying of the cable wires. Replace the lift cable if there are frayed wires visible. You may apply a light coat of cable lubricant every 2-6 months, depending on usage.

The assembly hardware (nuts/bolts) of the platform frame and back brace should be checked after every 20-30 cycles to ensure that all hardware is tightened properly.

Make sure the weight on the platform is evenly distributed. Place the heaviest part of the payload as close to the center of the platform and column as possible.

Check the lifting cable to make sure that the first rotation of cable is spooling correctly into the grooves of the drum and is not overlapping as the platform is being raised.

It is normal for the moving platform to vibrate slightly as the lifting cable completes its first wrapping into the grooves of the drum and the second cable wrapping begins to overlap the first cable wrap.

Check to make sure that the power cord is plugged into the power source. (Either your wall outlet or a step-up transformer). If you are using a step-up transformer, make sure that all transformer connections are secure and the step-up transformer is turned on. If you are plugged into a wall socket, make sure that the GFI or circuit breaker switch to that outlet has not been tripped.

Make sure the remote on/off side switch in the (up) ON position. Does the blue signal light illuminate when the remote buttons (up or down) are pressed? If the blue signal light is not illuminating, then the 9V battery needs to be replaced.

Make sure you are standing within 50-feet of the lift when using the remote. Keep a constant pressure on the remote’s arrow button. Make sure that the remote’s antenna is fully extended. Install a new 9V battery and test. If your battery is weak, the blue light on the remote may still illuminate but the remote’s signal to the lift’s sensor is compromised. The intermittent weak signal will cause the platform to hesitate.

The location of your Vantage Lift depends upon:

• Height of the garage ceiling
• Height of the stored items on platform
• Height of vehicle to be parked under raised platform

If your Vantage Storage Lift is installed on a side wall, then the loaded platform should be able to be raised high enough to allow your entire vehicle to be parked under the platform. If your Vantage Storage Lift is installed on the front wall of the garage, you may not need to raise the loaded platform to its fullest height. The platform can be raised just high enough so that the front of your vehicle (hood section) is able to be parked under the raised platform.The Vantage Corner Lift is designed for installation in a corner of your garage if the front wall or side wall are not options.

The Vantage Lifts may be installed outdoors as long as the concrete slab meets or exceeds the installation requirements.

The servo motor and remote-control receiver are enclosed, but must be protected from any type of moisture. The lift cable and other moving parts need be checked frequently and properly lubricated at all times. We recommend that the Vantage Storage lift be installed under a roof or canopy and not be subjected to extreme temperatures. Recommended operating temperature for the motor is 40 degrees (F) to 100 degrees (F).

Please make sure that the delivery truck (probably a 53-foot semi tractor-trailer) is able to access the delivery area.

The Vantage Storage lift is well packaged in a wooden crate with support feet which make it easy to unload and move with a forklift. Depending upon the Vantage Storage lift model, the crate weighs between 900 lbs. and 1500 lbs.

Most LTL carriers do not have trucks equipped with power tailgates that can offload this amount of weight. The length of the crates range between 10’-12.5’ which makes it difficult to position the crate on the delivery truck’s tailgate. A forklift or other type of power equipment (EG: tractor or skid steer) is needed to offload the Vantage Storage lift crate. The forklift is also needed to move the crate to the installation site.

For existing concrete floors, most manufacturers of 2-Post and 4-Post Lifts (8,000 lbs. capacity) require a minimum 4 inches of concrete slab.

For installation of a two-post lift (8,000 lbs. capacity) on a concrete floor that is less than 4 inches thick, you can remove a 4ft. x 4ft. section of the old concrete (for each column) and pour a new concrete slab. This new 4ft. x 4ft. slab should be a minimum of 10 inches deep and should be tied to the surrounding concrete floor with drilled in rebar.

You will need to pour two new concrete slabs for a two-post lift and four new concrete slabs for a four-post lift.

All above ground lifts need to be installed on POURED CONCRETE ONLY!

New Concrete Slab cure time: 28 Days
Do not install a column on/over control joints or expansion seams.
Check anchor bolts on a daily basis when lift in use. Make sure anchor bolts are tight.
